The Role

We have an immediate opening for a Fund Strategy Associate. The primary function of this role is to provide the leadership team with real-time investment data and analysis as well as actionable strategic insights across all a16z funds.

To Join Our Team, You Should Be Excited To
  • Create and maintain planning infrastructure and assist in developing the firm’s fund strategies for deployment, reserve planning and pacing
  • Project exit scenarios and outcomes for the firm’s current investments
  • Assist with analysis of follow-on / pro-rata investments
  • Provide analysis of public company investments to determine distribution strategy
  • Create new and innovative ways to track investment performance
  • Provide support in evaluating the launch of potential new funds
Team and Cross-Functional Project and Operations
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with other key partners within the Firm including the investment, legal, capital network and finance teams
  • Coordinate with the operations, engineering and finance teams to build accessible dashboards for the general partners that provides key insights on investment performance and overall fund metrics
  • Support ad-hoc projects related to the Firm’s priorities and initiatives
Minimum Qualifications
  • 2+ years of corporate finance or strategic planning experience. Preferable past experience includes but is not limited to, investment banking in a relevant sector coverage capacity or M&A product role, management consulting, or other strategic planning roles
  • Experience with creating and implementing strategic initiatives from the ground up
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work cross-functionally across the various operational groups within a16z
  • Proven personal and professional achievement
  • Experience in data and analytics and financial modeling
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and apply initiative and creativity on projects
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Finance, Business, Economics, or a technical field preferred but not required
