The Brand Design Team is the heart and hand of how we express Instagram design internally and externally. We focus on brand expression in-product and out of product through environmental and artifact design, cultural programming and editorial storytelling on @design. As a Brand Design Intern, you will work closely with designers, engineers, content designers and marketing to define and ensure a coherent brand expression across our ecosystem. You’ll have multidisciplinary projects that bridge brand work across interactive, printed and environmental applications. You’ll have the opportunity to think systematically about a holistic brand system and articulate design decisions and iterate quickly. You'll cover the design spectrum–from quick, rough strategic ideation to polished final deliverables–we'll look for work that thinks big and gets attention, but also follows a conceptual thread down to the smallest details. You will be expected to utilize your full range of product design, communication design, and visual design skills.


  • Concept, prototype and execute brand and marketing experiences in product
  • Extending brand expression system to interactive digital experiences
  • Ideating visual concepts and refining design work based on creative direction
  • Developing visual identity platforms, systems, typography, palette, illustration, iconography systems
  • Working cross-functionally and collaborating with internal and external team members

Minimum Qualification

  • Experience with product, branding or communication design
  • A portfolio that demonstrates product, branding, communication design experience
  • Experience with holistic story-telling and design-systems thinking
  • Visual Design skills with proficiency in typography, desktop/mobile UI, color, layout, iconography and aesthetic sense.
  • Experience in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
  • Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment

Preferred Qualification

  • Intent to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship/co-op
  • Ability to use prototyping skills to demonstrate how a particular flow or interaction will work
  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a Bachelors or Masters degree in design or related design field
  • Motion experience with AfterEffects or Cinema4D
  • Experience with Sketch, Figma, Origami Studio or any other prototyping tool
