Job Overview (What You’ll Do):

We are looking for a consumer-focused, passionate and enthusiastic VP of eCommerce who will be responsible for leading Cotopaxi’s eCommerce channel through the next phase of growth for the company. You are a scrappy, multi-tasking master that loves all things eCommerce and are capable of on-the-spot and on-time execution.

This role sits on the eCommerce team, reporting to the Chief Revenue Officer, and will work collaboratively with key business stakeholders across all aspects of the business to evolve the Cotopaxi.com experience for the customer and drive sales performance for this channel.

Job Responsibilities (How You’ll Do It):

P&L Responsibility

  • Own the annual eCommerce channel forecasting, and quarterly re-forecasting process in partnership with FP&A
  • Deliver against channel sales goals by managing
  • Optimize and improve gross margin through continuous improvement of discounting, returns, and shipping
  • Collaborate with Brand Marketing, Performance Marketing, Category Management, Planning, and Merchandising teams to set the annual marketing strategy, calendar, and budget for eCommerce
  • Continuous improvement and optimization of channel contribution margin through thoughtful management of channel operating expenses, including major cost centers like marketing spend, vendor management, and payroll

Marketing and Merchandising Strategy

  • Focus on elevating the brand presentation of our mission and products while looking for synergies between in store display and site merchandising to drive an intuitive and exciting DTC shopping experience
  • Collaborate with Growth Marketing team on strategies, tactics, and results to drive performance marketing efforts in the channel, and deliver against KPIs for customer acquisition and retention
  • In partnership with growth marketing and planning teams, manage and optimize the online assortment while managing seasonal promotions and price management, product, and content/story presentation

Technology and Feature Roadmap Development

  • Own the vision, strategy and execution of the eCommerce platform roadmap
  • Develop the nascent Product Management function to drive strategy and ongoing cycle of testing and optimization into all core eCommerce experiences
  • Lead the digital product teams to establish and execute on an effective, prioritized roadmap to deliver on key revenue-driving initiatives
  • Establish a culture and process of full-funnel testing and optimization across critical eCommerce components

Additional responsibilities

  • Build and ensure a cohesive, high-performing technical team to deliver against eCommerce growth goals
  • Research industry trends, leading the e-commerce teams to test, learn, and capitalize on opportunities
  • Effectively collaborates with global distribution partners to meet the needs of our consumer across international regions
  • Drive change by fostering a winning culture that elevates channel performance while driving team engagement
  • Lead with Cotopaxi’s purpose, mission, vision, and values - place these tenets at the core of all decisions to empower long term sustainable growth
  • Make data driven decisions while constantly testing and learning and consistently providing post-program ROI analysis paired with consumer insights to make recommendations to increase sales and drive a premium brand experience

 

Job Requirements (What You Need to Succeed):

-Must-Have Skills:

  • 10+ years experience in eCommerce sales and technology
  • 10+ years experience managing eCommerce professionals, direct reports, vendors, and agencies
  • BA/BS in Business or related field

-Preferred Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience leading eCommerce for a direct-to-consumer brand or sports retailer
  • Owned the sales performance and technology roadmap for the eCommerce sales channel
  • Operating experience in Shopify commerce platform
  • Proven track record of delivering results in eCommerce channel
  • Interest and eagerness to tactically execute day to day actions within various marketing channels. We are a startup - we wear many hats.
