About the role

As the first and sole Product Designer, you will have the unique opportunity to own the Design Function of a super cool (in our unbiased opinion 🙃 ) VC-backed tech start-up. You’d have loads of responsibilities from day 1 and would work directly with the co-founders.

We are looking for a Product Designer who is curious, empathetic to user needs, analytical, always asking questions. Also, we want someone who isn’t afraid to voice their opinion and is excited to bring new ideas to the table.

This person loves a problem rather than a solution and will work directly with the co-founders, working with them as design partners. 

The Product Designer will impact how user problems are defined, approached, and eventually solved. They’ll continuously work to learn more about our users and involve the rest of the team in solving user needs.

At SquadPal we are data-driven, so we need our Product Designer to be obsessed with how to best measure the success of a feature and improve our retention numbers continuously.

Key Responsibilities

• Report directly to the founding team. 
• Shape our design process
• Make big contributions to our product. You’ll be working with the product and engineering team from day one and will get into our scrum process from the very start.
• Contribute to defining the product roadmap, facilitating team workshops and working with the founding team to identify improvements to the product and then delivering beautiful designs to implement.
• Conduct user research independently and pre-empt some research using experience. Involve everyone in a culture of research, design, and testing.
• Deliver iterative design improvements to the product and track its performance to drive retention and growth.

Is this the job for me?

Ideally, you will have…

• 2+ years of experience in Product Design in startups. We need someone who can be independent and hit the ground running from day 1.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills 
• Ability to work with various stakeholders (Product, Tech, Ops)
• Excited about using data to measure the success of features and ability to use both quant and qual insight to inform decision-making
• Proficient in both UI/UX and good experience using prototyping tools e.g. Adobe XD, Marvel, Figma, Invision
• Previous mobile app experience
• Knowledge of agile methodologies such as SCRUM and Kanban.
• Happy taking initiatives to develop and refine best practices of our in-app content creation
• Great planning and road mapping skills
• Strong editor and writer
• Comfortable working from home (i.e., in a remote work environment)
