Alloy is a new, direct-to-consumer women’s health company founded by Anne Fulenwider (former Editor-In-Chief of Marie Claire and Project Runway Judge) and Monica Molenaar (co-founder of cult food brand Seed + Mill) to improve the health and wellbeing of women over 40 seeking solutions to the symptoms of aging, starting with menopause. Alloy is driven to improve women's health and the cultural conversation around women in the prime of their lives and has assembled a team of high-profile, nationally recognized experts. We are seed funded by Kairos HQ with a commitment to lead the Series A. We are scheduled to launch in September 2021 and will provide direct access to healthcare providers as well as the medicine and other products that serve women best.

What is the role?

As Director of Engineering you will be essential in leading the strategy of our technical architecture as we build out our platform, while also rolling up your sleeves and coding with other Engineers and Product leadership. You will be integral in building the tech stack, potentially including cloud hosting (AWS), JAVA script libraries (ReAct), backend languages and libraries, relational databases (PostGre-SQL), etc.This solution will provide women with a best in class offering to help improve their wellbeing. You will help manage and drive the key technology initiatives necessary to ensure alignment among goals, timelines, cost, and quality. Solving our most critical technical challenges as we build out our tech stack will be your first priority, while also getting your hands dirty coding.

• Lead architecture, design and development of our women’s health digital platform.
• Work closely with Lead Developers to define, implement and evolve technical architecture.
• Be hands-on with the building of our product, through systems design and architecture (and still have the ability to get into the code).
• Champion quality coding practices and test coverage.
• Recruit, develop and retain top engineering talent.
• Partner with the Head of Product to deliver industry leading experiences.
• Drive product creation through its full lifecycle including research, design, development and release.
• Communicate the company's technological vision, opportunities, and challenges to its investors, management, staff, partners, customers and other stakeholders.

Candidate Profile:

• 5-7 years of leading and managing an Engineering team focused around infrastructure, software development, and/or platform operations.
• Track record of success in designing, implementing, and executing scalable engineering teams. 
• Strong communication skills to effectively and transparently communicate and mobilize.
• Self-directed with the ability to make strategic and complex decisions.
• Early-stage company experience a plus.
• Healthcare/Telehealth experience, HIPAA compliance preferred.
