About the job:

We’re looking to add the first full-time salesperson to the Free Agency team. You will be the first touchpoint for leaders within the tech industry who are interested in our services. You’ll tell them about our concierge job search and career management movement, selling them on how a partnership with us will mean an acceleration in their professional trajectory. More fundamentally, you’ll persuade them that talent needs representation, and that our Hollywood-style Talent Agents can help them achieve the jobs they daydream about, the workplaces they wish they were in, and their long-term ambitions.

Furthermore, as our first sales hire, you’ll work closely with the co-founders and our Special Projects Lead to build the foundation and infrastructure for sales at Free Agency. From CRM to scripting, collateral to sales metrics + incentives, you’ll either be a participant, partner, or driver of key decision-making, depending on your seniority.

This role is flexible in seniority based on a candidate’s experience and capabilities.

You will:

  • Generate, nurture, and close high-quality leads through cold email and guerrilla marketing, targeting individual product managers, software engineers, marketers, designers, and other technologists from mid-level to C-suite.
  • Act as a momentary career advisor to create trust in our business, showcasing the expertise of the Free Agency team and the consultative nature of our services.
  • Manage all inbound and outbound lead calls in a consultative sale, and then developing & executing a robust follow-up process that converts some prospects within a day, and some within a three-month time horizon.
  • Develop sales collateral, processes, and playbooks to be used by future salespeople, including first implementation of CRM, drip campaigns, and call scripts.

You should:

  • Have strong familiarity with tech companies, startups, and the roles within to empower you to win over the hearts and minds of hard-to-convince prospects. You should be able to understand what a product leader at Stripe might want next in their career, how a software engineer might be thinking about joining FAANG versus a startup, or the reasons why someone should join a Series A company instead of something in the growth stage.
  • Be entrepreneurial in nature, comfortable with starting as your own SDR, working with limited collateral, and coming up with answers to new questions.
  • Possess extremely strong written communication skills, as much of your lead generation or post-call prospect activity will come in the form of email.

We have a spacious location in Flatiron that also includes an event space for our community. We are back in the office 5 days a week with regular COVID testing and a vaccination requirement, and will continue to be an in-office team so long as it remains safe.

  • Work closely with the CEO and our Special Projects Lead, who are the pair that have thus far owned and operated sales at Free Agency.
